An announcement from Steven Druker, author of Altered Genes, Twisted Truth

The Ecologist has published an article I wrote exposing the multiple falsehoods in a guide to GM crops that was recently released by the UK’s Royal Society.

Its implications are far-reaching, because by thoroughly demonstrating that the world's oldest and most respected scientific institution must resort to systematic misrepresentation in order to argue that GMOs are safe, it reveals that the venture to genetically engineer our food is crucially dependent on deception – and cannot withstand an open airing of the facts. (This regrettable reality is comprehensively and conclusively documented in my book.)

Further, although the proponents of agricultural bioengineering contend that those who resist it are anti-science, and equivalent to deniers of climate change, the article shows how the proponents are actually the ones assaulting science — in the name of science — and are undermining its authority in general, which weakens its influence in regard to key issues like climate change.

The Ecologist has highlighted this theme by prominently reproducing, near the top of the article, the following statement from the concluding section:

"The authority of science is being persistently challenged in regard to climate change and other major issues, and when a flagship scientific institution sullies its integrity in one area, it weakens the stature of science across the board."
